We are looking forward to the completion of the playground project.

Over the next few weeks we will build our Outdoor Classroom / Community Pavilion, with the construction being sponsored by Ruscio Construction.

Through the support of school families the grounds will be prepared & the initial foundation started for the installation of the remaining playground elements.

Volunteers are welcome to join us Tues. May 24th & Wed. May 25th as we install the playground elements & ground cover.

Tarentorus Home and School committee wishes to thank our school, families and the community for their ongoing support! This year we have successfully raised $17,897.83 bringing our balance to $25,382.26 to go towards our future enhancements, which will include an outdoor classroom and additional playground equipment that is geared for our special needs students. With the school year coming to an end we are only $16,432.36 shy of our final goal, with outstanding grant applications. The committee has decided to focus our current efforts on meeting this financial goal in hopes of completing our outdoor improvements in the fall of 2010!

Our pricing quote from Belair has been reviewed & gauranteed for a spring purchase.

Our overall Cost of this last phase is $41814.62
Currently we have $20,216.91 raised

We have recieved word that we will be recieving a $2000 donation.

There are 3 upcoming fundraising events planned including our Student Donation Challenge.

We have recently written for 2 grants in hopes to secure funds to see this project throught to completion.

As we move forward we are looking for sponsores for our playground elements.

We are currently working towards the completion of our playground improvement project. This year our goal is to build the outdoor classroom & complete the Jr./Int. playground with elements pleasing to our special needs students.
Estimated cost is $51,953.87

We started the year with $7452.42 carried over from last year.

To date we have raised an additional $8833.21 bringing our funding balance to $16385.63

Our goal is to raise the additional $35,536.23 in order to complete our playground project.

The work begins!!!

Children were captivated by all the BIG equipment in operation outside their classroom windows. The areas have been prepped & we are awaiting delivery of our new equipment
which will arrive Wed. morning :)

We are pleased to share that we have received the following donations
$2500 from a retired OPP Officer and
$2000 from the OPP Youth foundation

We are pleased to share with you that we are in the final stage of achieving a joint venture with the OPP Youth Foundation, which is a registered charitable organization. This is fantastic news, as it will open many funding doors for our initiative.
We are further pleased to share with you that as a result of this joint venture with the OPP Youth Foundation we applied for a grant from the Please Mum Foundation. We recently heard that our application was successful & we will be awarded $10,000.
We are thrilled to share this news with our families & community as it throws us full speed into the second phase of our project. We have been working closely with Belair Recreational Products to ensure elements are ordered & will arrive in order to meet our May 30th Build Day.

With the $10,000 we will be focusing on enhancements for the Jr./Int. side of the schoolyard.

Today our students, staff & parents attended an assembly about our playground project.

We heard stories of valuable learning that takes place on quality playgrounds, memories that have lasted a life time & the revealing of our new playground.

We watched a video of a previous Let Them Be Kids Project Build, showing the numbers of volunteers that make dreams become reality by working together to achieve a common goal.

We were presented with $1000 from the Sault OPP Branch and the OPPA Board of Directors combined.

We also saw a memorial slide show of Eric, demonstrating the many wonderful characteristics that lead to our committee selecting to dedicate our playground in his honour.

Character Attributes such as dedication, determination, responsibility, volunteerism, teamwork, community involvement, self esteem and sportsmanship to name just a few...

These are 2L pop bottles the have be recycled into Donation Bottles. We are asking the public to make monetary donations & sign a paper cut-out (crayon) to show their support.

Dear Tarentorus Home & School Committee Once again, on behalf of the Sault Ste. Marie Home Depot #7034, we would like to “Thank you” for inviting us to assist with the new playground build set for May 30, 2009.
